There are many subdivisions in the Phoenix metro area that have high water pressure. This is especially common in communities that have a lot of hills and mountains. The reason is because of the loss of pressure as water travels uphill. In order for the homes up the hill to have reasonable water pressure, the municipalities supply a high water pressure to compensate for the. That typically means the homes down the hill will have significantly higher pressure than those up the hill. It is also common in areas that are seeing a lot of development, as the higher pressure is used to accommodate the added water consumption of new homes.To protect your home, you must install a pressure reducing valve. We had a customer today in Mesa whose water heater was 15 years old. In case you didn't know, water heaters seem to age in dog years, so 15 is really old. Lol.
