Recent project - Window had fallen out of place in door and instead of replacing the entire door, I removed the window, cleaned it up, framed it in composite material and build new grids. Very happy customer!

This weeks project was rebuilding a railing that was in some serious need of repair. Balusters and bottom rail rotting and the whole side of the porch in need of prep and paint. Customer is thrilled the entire railing did not need to be replaced. Cleaned out the rot, firmed up wood with hardener, rebuilt with epoxy, and a coat of paint and it looks like new, for a 100+ year old house!

I got to do some real woodworking this week. A customer of mine has an entryway from the 70's with a solid wood door. Her well meaning son and even a contractor said she would have to replace the entire door due to some wood rot on the threshold. I told her no way, I can repair it.
With some oak flooring, planed down, and glued up, I made a nice thick stock to mould the new threshold. I cut out most of the rotted wood, firmed up a little rot that was left with hardener, shaped the new threshold, filled in the sections, and sanded it all down into a nice sloping edge to shed water.
My customer is so happy to have been able to keep her original door and she absolutely loves it. She told me I do nice work... it was like getting praise from my grandmother! It was a good day!!

A few projects from last week. Installed a mounting block and exterior fan for a customer as well as replaced smaller mounting blocks and exterior lights. Lots of siding work last week!

Now this project took a while and everyday I was there it was a heat advisory, in full sun. Not sure what I did to deserve that, but hey, I'm sure it was something! 😝

This project was done for one of the nicest couples I know so I added in a little customization that represents the non-profit cancer awareness and fundraising group they help run. A friend with a CNC machine (thank you, Josh) and some epoxy experimentation and a cool little logo was added!

This project was also unique as the hot tub next to the deck needed an access panel that was removable in case they needed to get to the controls (photos of that to follow later). The tools in the photos were made to lift that section up and out of the way and were all hand cut and crafted from small pry bars, inserted into dowels, stained and painted. Pardon my language, but now that is the s**t I love to create!!

Will add another ground level section later...maybe I'll do that in the winter when it is not so damn hot!

This was a larger job than expected, taking a 30 year old deck, tightening it all back up and giving it a face lift!
