These bearded iris were floppy and being smothered by overgrown pachysandra. Got them artfully pruned down into spear points and removed some of the pachysandra to allow the iris room to breathe. Now they'll grow back stronger with more nutrients available to them.
Whenever you have two types of plants growing on top of each other, they are going to compete for limited resources.
