Designed as the heart of the home, this space balances beauty, function, and connection. A generous island creates room for everything from meal prep to homework sessions and casual conversations, while warm walnut cabinetry adds richness and warmth against the crisp white palette.

Open shelving keeps everyday essentials within reach, and large windows fill the space with natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere throughout the day. The bright blue stools bring a playful pop of color, giving the kitchen a personality that feels both modern and approachable.

Designed to reflect both professionalism and approachability, this building balances clean contemporary lines with natural textures and expansive glazing. The dark metal cladding creates a strong architectural expression, while the wood accents and generous windows bring warmth, transparency, and connection to the surrounding landscape.

Every detail was carefully considered—from the scale of the entry sequence to the relationship between interior spaces and the outdoors—creating a workplace that feels both refined and inviting.

Flexibility was at the heart of this visitor center's design. These custom movable wall systems were created to transform the open floor plan as needs evolve throughout the day—from gallery openings and community events to meetings, exhibitions, and educational programming.

More than simple partitions, each wall serves a dual purpose. When repositioned, they create distinct zones and curate new experiences within the space. When stationary, they function as integrated storage, keeping the environment organized and adaptable without sacrificing valuable square footage.

Thoughtful design often means making a space work harder. By combining flexibility, function, and clean architectural expression, these movable walls allow the building to continually reinvent itself for the people who use it.

Hand drawing remains an important part of our design process—a way to quickly explore ideas, understand a site, and test how a home will sit within the landscape. 🏡 Shell Lake Cabin – Located in northwestern WI, this cabin is a sustainably designed lakefront retreat that blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings through thoughtful siting, local craftsmanship, and strong indoor-outdoor connection. Inspired by the client’s passion for music, the cabin reinterprets the classic A-frame with expressive structure and refined detailing.

Exposed brick, steel-framed glass, and bold pops of color create a welcoming first impression while supporting the day-to-day functionality of a busy practice.

From the reception desk to the smallest material detail, every element was thoughtfully considered to create a space that feels approachable, efficient, and rooted in the energy of downtown Minneapolis. 🐾✨

This kids’ bathroom took home 2nd Place at the 2026 ASID Design Excellence Awards—proof that playful can still be polished.
