MOBERLY, Mo. โ The Randolph County Health Department officially broke ground on Tuesday, July 28, at its future home, the former First State Community Bank building, located at 100 S. 4th Street in downtown Moberly.
The project includes the renovation and expansion of the building, which the Randolph County Health Department purchased as a long-term investment in the community. Construction is scheduled to begin on August 3, 2026, with completion anticipated in May 2027.
With the Health Department's current lease nearing its end, the Board determined that purchasing and renovating a permanent facility was the most fiscally responsible long-term solution. The downtown location also provides more convenient access for residents, with nearby schools, the public library, neighborhoods, and other community resources.
"This project represents an investment in the future of public health in Randolph County," said Sharon Whisenand, Administrator of the Randolph County Health Department. "Owning our facility allows us to continue serving our community while providing a permanent, centrally located home that will meet the needs of our residents for years to come."
The Randolph County Health Department will continue operating from its current location throughout construction. Additional information about the transition to the new building will be shared as the project progresses.
The project was designed by Porter, Berendzen & Associates, P.C., with Prost Builders serving as the general contractor.
