What an absolutely beautiful spring morning here in Burlington — pushing close to 70° and finally starting to feel like we made it through the other side of winter.

With the prolonged cold temperatures and 12+ inches of snow on many roofs, now is the time to prevent ice dams before they cause damage.

The most effective step is clearing the first 4–6 feet from the gutter line. When snow is left in place—especially on older or less-efficiently insulated homes—it can melt from the bottom up, refreeze at the roof edge, and create ice dams that trap water and lead to leaks.

The safest way to deal with ice dams is removing the snow above them, not chipping at the ice. That allows the ice to be exposed to sunlight and cold air so it can naturally release.

Just got back from providing priority snow removal service for some of our customers so they could safely get out and make it to work. ❄️🚜

As of 4:00 PM, right around a foot of snow has fallen across the area, and conditions are still challenging. Please be safe out there, stay off the roads if you don’t truly need to go anywhere, and if you can, take advantage of this time to slow down and spend some quality time with family. ❤️

While we do have a pretty jam-packed route for tomorrow, we are still willing to take on additional customers who may have underestimated the severity of this storm. Just this afternoon alone, we’ve already seen nearly three feet of snow dumped at the foot of driveways by plows.

If getting out tomorrow afternoon is not time sensitive, we can likely accommodate additional snow removal needs later in the evening into the overnight hours, particularly in the Bristol, Plainville, and Southington areas.
