John Heid, lives at the edge of the Pacific in a small coastal community just 20 miles south of San Francisco. With his workshop situated just a few feet from the surging sea, John is inspired by the fluid shapes, simple designs and intricate patterns of the natural world. Most days, you can find him in the workshop spending long hours perfecting his craft. "Working with wood has been in my family

for generations. I strive to capture the timeless quality of wood using a variety of hand tools, precision machinery and sculpting techniques. This way the soul quality of the wood, just as it appears in nature, is retained and the essence of the wood enhanced. Each of my pieces begin by hand-selecting the materials to capture the true nature of wood through flowing lines and strong yet elegant joinery.”

John Heid works closely with each customer to produce a handcrafted quality product; from the product’s design & materials to its carved, shaped, and hand-built custom form.
