This was our first 'unofficial 'project. The first time I worked with (technically hired) my mentor to build this store for my wife. We worked as a team though. My wife and I drew out the layout of the store and designed everything on it, down to some of the smallest details. I handled the land purchase, getting variances for code and zoning all approved and measuring everything down to the inch. This was a tight fit, so it took a lot of precision. The preliminary work on this project took 6 months. Most projects won't be this tedious or will have to get variances approved by the board of adjustments, but once I got everything approved, we finished the project in 4 months.
