One of the first questions homeowners ask about a kitchen remodel is simple: โWhere do I start?โ
Should we call a contractor first?
Do we need a designer?
Can we keep the same layout?
Are the cabinets worth painting or should they be replaced?
What selections do we need before pricing?
How long will the kitchen be out of service?
Those are normal questions.
A kitchen remodel should start with the basics: how the space is used, what is not working, what can reasonably stay, and what needs to change. Moving plumbing, electrical, walls, windows, appliances, or cabinet layouts can all affect cost and schedule.
In some homes, keeping the existing layout and updating the cabinets, countertops, backsplash, flooring, lighting, sink, faucet, and hardware can create a major transformation. In other homes, the layout no longer works and a larger remodel makes more sense.
At Decker Service Professionals, we help homeowners sort through the project in the right order: layout, scope, existing conditions, selections, budget, and schedule.
