"If my generator only ran for its weekly exercise all winter and we didn't have any outages, why does it need a service?"
Every time temps swing from cold to warm and back, condensation builds up inside the engine and works its way into the oil. The generator starts fine — but it's running on contaminated oil you can't see.
A spring service drains it out, puts fresh oil in, and takes about an hour. Skip it long enough and the engine pays for it.
