This was an inexpensive flower bed upgrade we knocked out this past weekend. Whether it's creatively upcycling old items, or installing the top of the line landscaping features, we can find a way to professionally improve your property.
For this bed, we were fortunate enough to have some old railroad ties (8.5 ft. each) that have been laying around for years and put them to good use. Before, laying these down, we tilled the ground to level it out and partially bury the ties for a more natural and settled look. *Note: I would not recommend using railroad ties in areas where food items may be grown. They are treated and contain harmful contaminants.
Next, we used wood chips from a previous load delivered from ChipDrop. If you've never used them and need lots of mulch, I highly recommend. I paid $40 for a dump truck load of wood chips. It's been so convenient and helpful in places that don't need a specific esthetic or color.
All of the plants except the seasonal flowers (clearance at Lowe's for $1 each!) came from Petri's Farm and Plants (not yet open to the public). Red Yucca, American Agave, Creeping Juniper, and Prickly Pear Cactus to name a few. Rocks around the edge were scavenged.
Fertilizer, soil amendments, and plenty of water added as well.
