Most people see a gunite pool being built and have no idea what theyāre actually looking at.
This right here isnāt just a hole in the ground.
You start with excavation, plumbing, steel, and a rebar cage that basically becomes the skeleton of the pool. Then the gunite is shot around that cage and shaped completely by hand.
And hereās something most people donāt know.
See that sprinkler sitting inside the pool?
Thatās intentional.
Concrete doesnāt just need to dry. It needs to cure. Keeping fresh gunite damp helps the cement continue hydrating and gaining strength instead of drying out too quickly.
So yes, weāre actually watering a swimming pool before thereās ever water in it.
That sprinkler is helping cure what will eventually become the shell of this pool.
And thatās one of the things that makes gunite special.
Youāre not limited to a shell that showed up on a truck. You can customize the shape, the depth, benches, tanning ledges, steps, spas, water features and really build the backyard around the homeowner instead of making the homeowner fit the pool.
Is gunite the cheapest way to build a swimming pool?
Absolutely not.
But if youāve got the cabbage and you want something custom, permanent and built specifically for your property, gunite is hard to beat.
After the shell is complete and cured, next comes the hardscape work. Thatās when the whole backyard really starts coming together.
Then one of the final steps is plastering the pool to the homeownerās specifications.
After that, we fill it with water so the customer can fill it with memories.
Because at the end of the day, weāre not just building swimming pools.
Weāre building places where families spend summers, kids grow up, friends gather and memories get made.
