Work is now underway on the future Michael Morris Graham Recreation Center in Aynor, a $14.5 million facility that will become the first recreation center serving western Horry County. Located at the Michael Morris Graham Park and Athletic Complex at 1253 Vereen Road, the new center is designed to provide expanded recreational opportunities for local youth, families, and the surrounding community. The facility will feature an indoor gym, running track, multipurpose rooms, and fitness center, along with four outdoor pickleball courts, two basketball courts, lighted multi-use fields, a walking trail, and paved parking. Once complete, the center will provide a new community hub for athletics, recreation, and programs ranging from basketball and volleyball to wrestling and other activities.

Slap dab in the middle of the South Carolina summer heat, construction continues to move forward on the McDowell Corporate Center at 8389 Water Tower Road.

From permitting and site work to the retention pond wall, irrigation, landscaping, and interior and exterior finish selections, every piece is coming together. There’s still plenty to do, but the vision is quickly becoming reality. Stay tuned for more progress updates as the project continues to take shape.

JACKSONVILLE, FL – McDowell Construction has been selected as the general contractor for the interior construction of a new JETSET Pilates studio at Pearl Square, a premier mixed-use development in Downtown Jacksonville, Florida.

The approximately 2,300-square-foot studio will occupy ground-floor retail space within Vandeveer, the first residential building completed as part of the Pearl Square redevelopment. The project is part of the continued transformation of the area into a vibrant destination featuring residential, retail, dining, and wellness experiences.

McDowell Construction will oversee the complete interior build-out of the boutique fitness studio. The finished space will reflect JETSET Pilates’ signature design and member experience and will include specialized fitness areas, reception and customer amenities, support spaces, and premium interior finishes.

Headquartered in Miami, JETSET Pilates has grown into an international boutique fitness brand with locations across the United States, Australia, and London. The company currently operates 66 studios nationwide.

McDowell Construction Awarded Michael Morris Graham Recreation Center Project in Aynor

AYNOR, SC – McDowell Construction is proud to announce it has been awarded the contract to build the new Michael Morris Graham Recreation Center at Michael Morris Graham Park in Aynor, South Carolina. The project is part of Horry County’s continued investment in providing expanded recreational opportunities for residents in the western part of the county.

The approximately 23,000-square-foot facility will be the first indoor recreation center serving western Horry County. Designed to be a year-round destination for residents of all ages, the center will include a full-size gymnasium, indoor walking and running track, fitness center, multipurpose rooms, concessions, and supporting amenities. Outdoor improvements will include athletic fields, pickleball courts, basketball courts, walking trails, additional parking, and other site enhancements.

The new recreation center will provide a place for youth sports, fitness programs, community events, and everyday recreation while helping meet the needs of one of Horry County’s growing communities.

Construction is underway following the recent groundbreaking ceremony, with the completed facility expected to become a lasting asset for Aynor and the surrounding area.

Project Update – June 9, 2026
Work is entering the final stages at the new ABC retail store located at 1214 Redbourne Drive in Greensboro, NC. The steel-framed facility is quickly taking shape, with interior and exterior finishes progressing as the project moves closer to completion and opening day.

Site work has officially begun at McDowell Corporate Center, located at 8389 Water Tower Road in Longs, SC, marking the start of site development for our new corporate headquarters and mixed-use commercial campus.

Strategically located near the SC-31 and SC-22 interchange, McDowell Corporate Center is designed to serve as a modern hub for corporate, retail, logistics, and industrial growth in the rapidly expanding North Myrtle Beach region.

The development will include:
• A new 10,000 SF McDowell Construction corporate headquarters
• A 5,000 SF leasable commercial building
• A 15,000 SF warehouse/flex facility
• Three additional build-to-suit development parcels (8.5 acres, 3.5 acres, and 2.0 acres)

As part of a larger Planned Development District (PDD), the project also includes major infrastructure improvements along Water Tower Road, including roadway widening, sidewalks, landscaping, street trees, and a dedicated corridor for the East Coast Greenway.

Positioned near major regional operators including UPS, Amazon, Pepsi Bottling Co., ABC Supply, and others, McDowell Corporate Center is intended to support continued economic growth, business expansion, and job creation throughout the area.

Project Update – Finklea Fire Station | Station 6 | Loris, SC

Construction is moving forward on the new Horry County Fire Rescue Finklea Fire Station, located at 3197 Highway 9 Business in Loris, South Carolina.

The new 9,700-square-foot facility broke ground in 2025 and will replace the existing Station 6, providing expanded capacity to better support the growing emergency response needs of the Loris community.

The new station will house the same equipment and units as the current Station 6, including Squad 6 with 12 positions, Battalion 4 with three positions, Tanker 6, Boat 6, and Utility 6.

McDowell Construction is proud to partner with Horry County Fire Rescue on this important public safety project as construction progresses toward a planned September 2026 completion.

Project Update – Verizon Cellular Sales Center | Naples, FL

Construction is progressing on a new Verizon Cellular Sales Center at 6658 Collier Blvd in Naples, Florida.

The 2,500 sq ft ground-up retail facility will expand Verizon’s presence in the area and provide a modern, customer-focused environment for sales and service.

McDowell Construction is leading the delivery of this new retail location, with work continuing toward early 2026 completion.
