This is what happens when you don't leave a gap between the house and the sidewalks. You have to have a gap between anything you run up to a house. This damage was years in the making, and functioning gutters would have helped a lot. Another important step is keeping things painted and sealed. We replaced the rim joist and bottom plate; the fact that this wall was still standing amazes me. Updated pictures coming soon! This is what people mean when they say they clean the hair of the sink or shower. Of course I did, what kind of person do you take me for. I am guilty of Washing it down sometimes myself. Majority of the time, a simple P-trap clean out can solve the show drain problem.
