Old Wood Building

Old Wood Building was started with the purpose of saving and restoring pioneer era buildings from the 1800's.

We specialize in methodically taking down and dismantling barns, cabins, and farmhouses with the goal to rebuild and give them a second life.

These are some of the most common tools you'll find on one of our job sites.

Our carpenter Luke walks us through how he keeps his tools organized in his tool belt.

Would you trade these old wooden walls for something brand new?

There's something special about keeping the original character of a home while making room for modern living. Some things are worth holding onto, especially when they can become part of someone else's story someday.

Funny how the parts you’ll never see again can be some of the most important.

Good restoration isn't just about bringing an old home back to life. It's about making sure the next generation inherits something worth keeping. And that starts with getting the details right, even the ones hidden behind the walls.

Would you believe these walls could have another hundred years of stories to tell?

The old logs still have their character, while the newer framing makes room for what's next. That's the beauty of restoring an old home. You get to keep what makes it special while making it a place future generations can call home.

A fresh coat of stain can change the look, but the real beauty is in the logs that have been here all along. We're just giving them a little more life, a little more protection, and a chance to be part of someone's home for generations to come.

Funny how a window can change so much without changing what makes a home special.

A closer look at the crew getting the details right. Because when you're working on a place that's meant to stay in the family, every improvement should feel like it belongs.

Old character, new possibilities, and plenty of life still to be lived here.

Ever wonder how much history can fit into one corner of a house?

Those old logs have already stood through generations, and with the right care, they can be part of many more. We're working our way around this cabin, keeping its original character while giving it the attention it deserves.

After all, a home worth passing down is a home worth looking after.

Who says an old cabin has to stay stuck in the past?

New windows, careful hands, and a little room for modern living. We're keeping the character that makes this place special while making it a home worth holding onto for years to come.

Some things are simply too good to leave behind.

St. Matthews Electric joined us on site to handle the electrical side while we keep pushing the restoration forward. Different trades, same jobsite, one project coming together piece by piece.
