The quail got an upgrade! My friend Monica traded me this chicken tractor, and I knew it could make a great outdoor run for our quail! Brody helped by adding hardware cloth around the bottom and up the sides so we could make it work for our little flock.

They finally get to explore the ground instead of living in a hutch, and I’m so excited to watch them enjoy their new space! 🥹

So far, they have grit, calcium, dust-bathing material, and little hiding spots. I’m thinking about adding some securely anchored branches and more natural enrichment as we go. What do you think?

Myotonic goats are my favorite breed, and here’s why!

1. They are known for parasite resistance, but individuals vary and still need monitoring!
2. Absolutely adorable. Obviously.
3. Heavy muscling and a high meat-to-bone ratio for those raising meat goats.
4. Some even produce cashmere! I think a few of mine do, but I am not 100% certain yet!
5. A manageable size for our homestead.
6. Generally docile.
7. Easier to catch, which I appreciate more than they do. 😂
8. In my experience, relatively easy to care for.

They’re also a heritage breed listed as “Recovering” on The Livestock Conservancy’s Conservation Priority List, which is another newfound reason that I love raising them! I did expose them to our ND buck, so if there’s any current pregnancies they will not be breed standard or 100% myotonic. But I am excited in the next year or 2 to get a myotonic buck and start working on helping preserve the breed! 💓

They have so much going for them beyond being known as “fainting goats.” I just love this breed. 🥹

We tried a new revolving sushi place the other day, and I think Kura still has our hearts!

The “Krabgoon roll”, gyoza, and mochi here at Koi was still phenomenal! And the plating?? So beautiful. 😻

Kura just has more of a selection that I personally love (crab based sushi lol) even if it’s not all you can eat, it’s still cheap per plate and has smaller portions so you can try as much as you want without killing your wallet!

Koi has full portions so you end up fuller faster for all you can eat sushi for the price of $35. We would definitely get takeout here if they offer it, for sure! It was good and the service was very friendly! 😊 Koi is offering 20% off for their Grand opening until November 1!

Both are great options! If you’re not “picky” like me, I think you’d love either!
