A couple months ago, we teamed up with one of our favorite local growers, Baby T Rex Farms, to collaborate on their farmers market setup, and this week we got to see it in action. đŸ„č

We built this display stand + bouquet holder from really gorgeous 65-year-old walnut, and it’s so fun to see it at the market in its element.

Getting to work with other small businesses like this is easily our favorite part of what we do. If you haven’t yet, stop by their table at the Tuesday uptown farmer’s market for local honey, bouquets, veggie starts and more! đŸŒ±đŸ’

Hi guys! Sorry we’ve been such strangers on here lately. We had an awesome Christmas market season, and after the new year decided to take a break from the studio to focus on renovation work. We’ve done a whole bunch of client projects over the last few months, and it’s been a really fun mix.

We’ve demoed kitchen shelving and installed beautiful custom walnut shelves that Garen made, rebuilt and repainted antique cypress doors, painted almost the entire interior of a 3,000 square foot house (!), repaired and reinstalled mantels, patched floors and matched original stains, built gardens, and about a hundred other things.

I also started taking on part-time gardening work again, and it’s been really nice to have my hands back in the dirt and work with private clients.

These aren’t the most amazing photos I’ve ever taken, but they’re a few snapshots from the past couple of months. It’s been really satisfying to watch our little woodworking studio evolve into a husband-and-wife renovation duo.

Next week we’re tearing out linoleum and restoring original heart pine floors in a client’s kitchen — not for the faint of heart, but everything’s easier when you’re working with your best friend.

Ideally, we’d love to keep building outdoor spaces that use both of our specialties, Garen’s woodworking/construction and my gardening.

It feels like we’ll be focusing on renovation work this summer while the studio heats up, and we’re excited to see where it goes.

As always, send us a message if you have a space you’re ready to update, a garden that needs tending, or both đŸ€

Introducing the Tulip Spoons. These weren’t even an idea until last night. We have an enormous pile of gorgeous walnut scraps from another project, and somehow these ladies just
showed up, waiting in the wood. What started as a little ‘what if?’ turned into something we can’t stop staring at.

It’s hot, y’all. Like real hot. We’ve been quiet this summer because we’ve been buried in a big project, but wanted to share some silly snaps of us absolutely melting in the August heat. I’ve been meaning to post but still haven’t had time to do a content shoot, so instead, here is us modeling two new boards we just finished. Right now, it’ll just have to do.

Handmade in New Orleans, sweat included. đŸŒ¶ïžđŸ„Č🌞đŸŒČ

Warning: this post contains a classic New Orleans love story.

Last fall, we bought this sun-faded pink bus and drove her straight home to New Orleans. The plan? Build her out, make her a home, and hit the road for the Great American Road Trip.

We laid down red oak floors, wired up solar, installed a mini split A/C, and tackled about a thousand other things—big, small, sweaty, hopeful.

We were supposed to leave before another truly brutal summer hit. Both of our careers keep us outside most days, and the heat here is no joke.

There was one little hiccup, though

Like all of us who live in this magical, gritty, gorgeous city, we realized that after decades here, we still weren’t ready to leave.

It takes so much time and trust to build your community—and that community becomes this invaluable framework for your whole life.

We just couldn’t do it.

It’s the typical story: you survive a hellacious summer, and then New Orleans flips the switch. Fall hits, and she’s back in magic mode for months. She sure does that.

So we pivoted. If we were staying, we were going to give it everything we’ve got.

That’s how Working Hands NOLA was born.

Now the bus lives outside our studio. She’s still somewhere in between—like an open question.

And we’re wondering: what should we do with her?

Pop-up woodshop for markets and events?
Finish the tiny home dream?
Something else entirely?

What do y’all think? 🚌💭👇

We finally put together our first lookbook! It’s a little peek into what’s been taking shape—kitchenware made from reclaimed wood with stories of their own, from old shotgun houses to sunken river finds.

It feels good to share this. Thanks for cheering us on as we figure it out, one piece at a time.

Take a look and let us know what you think. It’s a little love letter to the materials, the process, and the hands behind the work.

And of course thank you to wonderful Betsy at for making us look so good. 📾

Happy Birthday to the one and only G: endlessly patient shop manager, founder, incredible husband, amazing dad—and the cutest, most talented woodworker around, to boot. We’re giving him the day off he like deserves. See y’all tomorrow đŸŽ‚â€ïžâ€đŸ”„

Jules finished this board yesterday, but something just wasn’t clicking. One of the things we love most about making boards is how each one stirs up some kind of feeling—but this one felt a little flat. So we chopped it into strips and went full checkerboard. And you know what? It worked. Now it’s a little louder, a little funky, and rocking those green and orange pops!

Took a break from the studio tonight and made our way to . There’s something about walking those rows at dusk, with blueberry-stained hands and easy smiles, that makes the day wind down in the most beautiful way. The welcome there always feels like a big hug - warm, familiar, and hard to leave. Grateful for places like this, where the air feels a little lighter. Feels good to support folks who put real heart into what they grow. 💙
