Cybersecurity Skills: Be Aware of Phishing Scam Emails

This is an example of a common email scam called “phishing.” Essentially the sender of this email is trying to trick me into giving up my personal information by convincing me that I’ve spent money on a service I didn’t order.

Always be skeptical of unknown invoices/statements sent by email, text, phone call or physical mail. NEVER click on hyperlinks (the blue text) of emails or texts that you’re skeptical of.

You can easily determine whether it’s a phishing scam by checking the senders email address. In this specific case, if I click on the senders address “cs-invoice confirmation” it shows me their actual address which is “[email protected]”

I don’t recognize the invoice or the sender therefore it can be reported as spam and deleted. If you’re not sure then you can double check this by looking for the transaction on your bank statement.
