After a crown moulding job, I was reminded of this little trick: to get the best possible finish when cutting with a saw, have the unfinished side facing the blade when cutting. X is what happens when you cut from the finished side and Y is when you have the finished side facing away from you while cutting. When framing with 2 x 4’s this level of detail is probably irrelevant but for the finishing touches, every little bit helps :)
