A customer called me because of a rattling noise in her toilet when flushed. Sounded more like a ting-a-ling when I flushed. So I drew out the water with my trusty kerosene siphon hand pump.
Placed an adjustable mirror in the toilet and shined a light to view the top of the toilets trap. I couldn't believe what it was. A metal fork. Yes a fork stuck at the top of the trap. I removed it with a small snake. Your question is as good as mine. The lady provided no answer. Can't make this up.

This is a first. The previous plumber must have run out of reducers. It worked though.

Sometimes we have to be penny pinchers. Are you going on vacation?
Most people have water heaters with a vacation mode setting. I mean why heat water if nobody is there for a week or longer. So before you leave for that wonderful place away from home, set that vacation mode. Bring it up to your desired temp when you return. Enjoy.
