Since its inception, The Father’s Heart Ministries, housed in The Father’s Heart Church, has served over 250,000 guests, partnered with over 200 organizations and facilitated the service of approximately 5,000 volunteers per year. Today, TFHM is one of the larger soup kitchens and emergency food pantries in Manhattan having served over 28,000 guests in 2010. But we’re more than just a hunger preve
ntion program. Our core values of unconditional love, forgiveness, acceptance and commitment have driven us to innovate the way we serve people, offering a range of programs aimed to move people from poverty to prosperity and from dependence to dignity. The building in which TFHM resides is a recently landmarked structure rooted in 144 years of rich history in an area of New York known as Alphabet City that over the years has gone through periods of distress and is now gentrifying. The church building where our programs are performed has been known by many different names over the years. However, the mission has always remained the same – to help the poor and marginalized of the Lower East Side. The wear and tear on the structure and systems of the building has become more acute with each passing year and the building is now in desperate need of structural repairs and renovation in order to bring it up to today’s code and safety standards. Helping us restore the building in which more than 700 people are served each week doesn’t just ensure our sustainability - it is an investment in the community’s future and advances the vision of a thriving neighborhood.
