From Ann Arbor, Ryan Poe joins the Regenerative Agriculture Coalition to speak about The Hungry Locavore (www.thehungrylocavore.com), his business supporting the hyper-local food system in southeast Michigan. Ryan has developed a twist on Consumer Supported Agriculture (CSA) by integrating value-added products, or artisan goods, into his non-subscription model. This is a master class on no-till and low-till farming, integrating pollinator strips, the benefits of high biodiversity to farming and nutrition, agroforestry and permaculture, school gardens, and the business model innovations that can help foster a circular economy.

The Regenerative Agriculture Coalition is a chapter of The Climate Reality Project.

Happy spring! Ready to get started? Attend this free zoom talk on converting lawn area to meadow! No matter where you are- urban area, suburban area, rural area- this webinar applies to you. Meadows are IMPORTANT resources for the wild birds and pollinators that we all love, they help clean our air, and are the beautiful proof of healthy, living soil.

In April of 2022, Sara and Evan Cooper moved into their new home in a suburban Philadelphia neighborhood. After one spring and summer of consistently mowing their 5,000 square foot...

Working on the intergenerational Youth Climate + Art Summit with artists of all ages this summer has been pure joy. A VERY EXCITING set of workshops is in store for Winter 2025, but for now, we are wrapping up our 2024 season with poetry, "Dear Human" letters, nature drawings and journaling, and sensory and sound mapping. We invite kids of all ages to join us in our last work sessions before the exhibition in October. Connect with YCAS here: https://linktr.ee/youthclimateartsummit

We officially started today, joining over 200 other Youth Climate Summit sites in 9 countries!

To say we were impressed by the climate knowledge of the participating kids is an understatement!

There is still plenty of fun left - kids & their families are invited to join us for the next events, which are free and open to the public! Links to more info and pre-registration are below (along with the url of our linktree, where you can find all socials and events):

"We must support the return of the insects, and the birds." - Julie Rawson, Many Hands Organic Farm

The methods of no-till, no-chemical organic farming, regenerative agriculture, and conservation agriculture center the health of our environmental and human communities. These principles can be applied across landscapes and scales. We have the tools we need for climate resilience! This interview is a joyful masterclass in the beneficial actions we can all help prioritize, from one of the longest continuously certified organic farms in the United States.

Julie Rawson is the former Executive Director of NOFA/Mass and Jack Kittredge is the former Editor of The Natural Farmer, and together, they are the founders of Many Hands Organic Farm and the Many Hands Sustainability Center. They are recipients of the Northeast Organic Farming Organization Lifetime Achievement Award and the co-authors of Many Hands Make a Farm: 47 Years of Questioning Authority, Feeding a Community, and Building an Organic Movement published by Chelsea Green Publishing

This interview was produced by the Regenerative Agriculture Coalition, a working group of Climate Reality Project leaders and chapter members.

This will be difficult but is essential to change. We can all help- ask local nurseries to consider alternatives to plastic, such as soil blocking, or compostable, plastic-free pots. Ask farmers markets to set a zero-plastic goal for all vendors. There is no good plastic.

Plasticulture has long-term effects on the environment and our food.
