Today wasn’t about making money.

There’s a field behind my house with a baseball diamond that honestly gets neglected bad… I’m talking grass 4’ tall at times.
But earlier this year I saw a youth softball team out there trying to practice on it.

That didn’t sit right with me.

So today I donated my time, my fuel, and got it cleaned up right. Striped it up nice so those girls have a field they can actually be proud to practice on.

This business is about more than just dollars.
It’s about community. It’s about showing up.

Sometimes you just do the work because it matters.

Small Business Saturday 💪

Nobody talks about this part…

You start a business thinking:
“Yeah I’ll mow some yards, make some money.”

Next thing you know you’re:
Running numbers at 10pm
Reworking pricing for the 5th time
Watching YouTube on how to bid a job you’ve never done before
And overthinking a flower bed like you’re building a damn highway project 😂

I’ve learned real quick

You’re not just doing the work…
You’re learning:
How to price
How to sell
How to lead
How to not screw yourself long term

And if you’re wired like me…
You don’t just want it done.

You want it done right.

Level. Clean. Solid. Built to last.

Problem is…
Not every job needs the “overbuilt, will survive a tornado” treatment 😅

So now it’s about dialing it in
Understanding what actually matters to the customer
while still holding the line on quality.

That’s the game.

That’s the part people don’t see.

But that’s also why I put my name on it.

Because if it’s got my name on it… it’s gotta be right.

Still learning. Still improving. Still building.

This was never supposed to turn into this…

It started as a way to make some extra money…
Just trying to help cover medical bills when my daughter was born.

Now?

50 hours at my day job…
10 yards this week…

And it’s turning into something way bigger.

A brand.
A business.
A dream I’m building one long day at a time.

I took a chance on myself…
And a lot of you have taken a chance on me too.

I’ve heard the stories around town…
❌ No communication
❌ Missed days
❌ Half-done work

That’s not what we’re building here.

I’m not trying to be just another guy cutting grass.

I want to be the guy you trust to take care of your property like it’s my own…
Because this isn’t just grass

It’s your investment. Your home. Your curb appeal.

I’m beyond blessed.
Blessed for the clients that trust me.
Blessed for every referral.
Blessed for my family supporting the grind.
And blessed for my future wife holding it down at home with our amazing daughter.

This isn’t easy… but it’s worth it. Every single day.

Been a little quiet on here lately… and I’ll be honest why.

Between working full-time, growing Cody Allen Lawn and Landscape, and being a dad… things have been moving FAST. We’ve had a big wave of new clients (which I’m beyond grateful for), but it’s also meant long days, late evenings, and not nearly enough time to stop and take pictures.

And yeah… I know I need to get better about that.

But just know this 👇

It’s because we’re out taking care of yards like they’re our own.

I’m building this thing the right way one lawn, one relationship at a time. No shortcuts.

Running a lawn business isn’t just mowing grass.

There’s fuel.
Blades.
String.
Maintenance.
Insurance.
Equipment upgrades.

This isn’t a $20 cut world anymore and it hasn’t been for a long time.

We charge what we charge so we can do things right,
show up consistently,
and deliver quality every single time.

But here’s the part people don’t always see…

Sometimes you pull up to a yard
and it’s not just “overgrown.”

It’s someone going through something.

A loss.
A tough season.
A situation where they just need a hand.

And in those moments sometimes you don’t worry about the numbers.

You just help.

Not for attention.
Not to post “look what I did.”
And not because this is a charity.

But because being part of a community means

Sunday funday / Maintenance Monday

Most people think “lawn maintenance” is just mowing and throwing down fertilizer…

It’s not.
Sunday wasn’t about cutting grass. It was about making sure everything is dialed in before the week starts 👇

✔️ Repaired last week’s breakdown
✔️ Swapped blades + sharpened backups
✔️ Greased all fittings
✔️ Leveled & squared the deck
✔️ Patched a leaky tire
✔️ Scraped built-up debris off decks
✔️ Cleaned mowers & trimmers top to bottom

Because here’s the truth…

Sharp blades = cleaner cuts = healthier grass
Maintained equipment = better looking lawns
Attention to detail = results you can actually see

Even had a good conversation with a neighbor swapping lawn strategies, because there’s always something to learn in this game.
