Did you know it can get up to 140 degrees on the roof during a Texas summer and roughly 200 degrees in the attic? The heat is definitely a hazard of the job but sometimes we can find shade! 🙂

Guessing about your chimney’s health isn't enough. That is why Ables Top Hat offers thorough, in-depth Level 2 fireplace and chimney inspections. Using specialized camera equipment and other tools and techniques, their certified technicians scan the entire interior of your flue and fireplace to reveal creosote buildup, hidden cracks, or other damage that may be invisible to the naked eye.

Catching these issues early can help prevent carbon monoxide poisoning and chimney-related house fires.

Key Signs Your Extinguisher Needs Attention

Pressure Gauge Drop: The needle on the pressure gauge should always sit in the green zone. If it’s pointing to red or "recharge," it won't operate at full strength.

Physical Damage: Rust, cracked hoses, missing pull pins, or broken safety seals all signal that the unit is compromised.

Passed Expiration: Most portable extinguishers require professional inspection annually and complete servicing or replacement every 5 to 12 years depending on the model type.

Don't wait for a high-stress moment to find out your equipment isn't working. Regular inspections give you the confidence that your home and family are protected.

If it’s been years since your fire extinguishers were inspected—or if you can't remember the last time you checked them—let the team at Ables Top Hat ensure your home is secure.

Call or text Ables Top Hat at (254) 645-8209 to schedule your fire safety inspection today.

Fire safety isn’t a seasonal checklist item or something you set and forget—it is a 365-day responsibility. In an emergency, a properly working fire extinguisher is your first line of defense, but it’s only effective if it's accessible and fully functional when seconds count.

Are Your Fire Extinguishers Truly Emergency-Ready?

Take a moment right now to ask yourself two crucial questions:

1. Do you know exactly where your extinguishers are located? They should be easily accessible near high-risk areas like the kitchen, garage, and workshop, never buried under storage bins or behind clutter.

2. When was the last time they were checked? Fire extinguishers can lose pressure over time, undergo hose deterioration, or experience internal chemical settling that prevents them from discharging properly.

We’ve all been there: you need a plumber, painter, or contractor, and the cheapest bid lands in your inbox looking like a miracle. It’s hard to resist saving a few hundred bucks. But as almost anyone who has taken the bargain-bin route can tell you, the cheapest quote often turns into the most expensive project you’ll ever pay for.

Before you jump on the lowest price, here are three things to weigh first:

- Real Reviews Over Low Rates: A low estimate loses its charm fast when a contractor goes radio silent halfway through a job or leaves behind sloppy work. Look for patterns in reviews—consistency, communication, and punctuality matter far more than a flash-in-the-pan discount.

- Neighbor & Word-of-Mouth Referrals: Neighbors have no reason to lie to you. A personal recommendation from someone on your block who actually lived through the project is worth ten online sales pitches.

- Credentials, Licensing, and Insurance: This is the big one. If an uninsured worker gets injured on your property or accidentally bursts a main line, that "cheap" hire can suddenly trigger massive out-of-pocket liabilities or home damage. Always verify that they carry general liability and workers' comp.

Cheap work often has to be done twice. Investing a little extra time—and sometimes a little extra cash—upfront buys you the one thing a cheap quote never includes: peace of mind.
