if your drain smells like rotten eggs or sewage, nine times out of ten it’s one of two things:
1. a dry P-trap. there’s a U-shaped pipe under every drain that holds water and blocks sewer gases from coming back up. if a drain hasn’t been used in a while that water evaporates, and the smell comes straight through. fix: run the water for 30 seconds. done.
2. buildup inside the drain. hair, grease, and soap scum collect in the pipe and start to smell. a good drain snake or enzyme cleaner handles most of it.
if you’ve tried both and it still smells, that’s when you call us. could be a venting issue or something further down the line that needs a camera.
save this. cheaper to know than to guess.
