If you’ve been following along, you know we’ve been talking for two days about the potential development of a TROWAL. And for anyone who doesn’t speak “weather nerd,” here’s the simple version:

A TROWAL is basically a warm, moist arm of air that wraps into a winter storm. When that arm lifts into cold air, it squeezes out intense, long‑lasting snowfall. Think of it like the storm’s “snow‑making engine.”

Our latest high‑resolution guidance now shows this feature becoming increasingly likely. The zone highlighted here (valid for noon today) is where 2-inch‑per‑hour snowfall rates are very possible.

This is also the area where we’ve been flagging the POTENTIAL — not a guarantee — for localized totals over 18 inches.

And for anyone saying, “We barely have anything yet”…
We’ve been saying it for DAYS: this is a SUNDAY MORNING storm.

The main event ramps up after sunrise.

Holiday lights are being taken down, tagged and zip tied so they are nice and tidy. We also draw a diagram so it’s easy to install next season.

These will begin Sunday night, and go through Monday night/Tuesday morning. The alerts will end in the western counties at 10pm Monday and in the eastern counties at 1am Tuesday.
