I want to take a moment to make you aware of some legislation calling for a ban on gas powered leaf blowers. While it appears the current bill in the state legislature is calling for a total ban by 2027-2029 will not proceed, its certainly isn’t a dead issue. This message is meant only to inform you on the potential impact. I am not opposed to battery powered equipment and certainly believe that it, or other alternative energy, is a big part of the future of the landscaping industry. We are not there yet though and we won’t be in 2 years. Such a ban would mean landscaper and homeowner equipment would need to be replaced. Currently the battery technology and recharging are not sufficient for landscapers to work complete days. Additionally, the cost of replacement equipment would be exorbitant. These costs would unfortunately end up being passed on to all customers by landscapers. Some prices such as leaf cleanups could go up 500% or more as the industry would have to return to raking and tarping much of the leaves. Additionally, this ban would likely then move to all outdoor gas equipment, meaning lawnmowers, chainsaws etc. Again, I believe the future is battery powered but we need to let that industry continue to develop. I urge you to pay attention to legislation, and communicate with you State Representative / Senator. If you have questions that I may be able to help with please contact me. Thank you for your time.
