Earlier this October, the MWS team attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Middle River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company station in Middle River, Maryland. The ceremony brought together U.S. Representative Andy Harris, State Delegates Ryan Nawrocki and Kathy Szeliga, State Senator J.B. Jennings, Baltimore County officials, first responders, and community leaders to celebrate this important milestone. 🎉

As the project's primary architect, we're proud to help bring this new facility to life. The station will provide modern, updated spaces to support the company's emergency response operations while serving as a valuable community resource for Middle River and surrounding areas.

The project has secured $9 million in federal funding, along with support from private donors, marking a significant investment in the community's public safety infrastructure. A continuing capital campaign will help raise the remaining funds needed to complete the facility, while plans to replace the company's aging ladder truck will further strengthen emergency response capabilities.

We're grateful to collaborate with the Middle River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company on this important project and look forward to seeing the new station take shape!

Our team recently led a building tour of the former BG Thomas B. Baker State Armory in Ellicott City alongside Howard County Executive Calvin Ball and Fire Chief Louis Winston. Happy World Architecture Day from MWS! 🌍💙🏛️

Today, we’re celebrating the architects, designers, and creative minds who help shape the spaces around us! Architecture brings together the planning, design, and construction of the built environment.

We’re incredibly grateful to be able to design purposeful fire and police stations, community centers, and other civic facilities. Each project gives us the opportunity to solve new challenges, work alongside the communities we serve, and create spaces that support the people who use them every day. Here's to the people, the ideas, and the teamwork behind great architecture! 🎉🎉

Last week, the MWS team headed to Inverness Brewing for our quarterly firm event! After a busy few months, the event gave everyone a chance to catch up outside of the office and enjoy some time together as a team. Our quarterly events are a chance to celebrate the work we’ve accomplished while making time for the people behind it.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made it another great MWS quarter! 🍻🎉

A couple of members from our team recently took a field trip to Crownsville Fire Station 6, one of our newly completed public safety projects! 🚒

Walking through the newly completed station gave our team an opportunity to experience the spaces firsthand, see how design decisions translated from drawings to reality, and get a closer look at how the facility supports the firefighters who use it every day.

Last week, members of our Interior Design team, Ashley Laughter, Leana Cruz, and Emily Oliver, headed to Chicago alongside our friends and partners from Douron, Lainie Troutman, and Erin Scarpaci, to attend NeoCon 2026 and Fulton Market Design Days!

Together, they immersed themselves in the latest industry design innovations, from product launches at the THE MART to exploring The HON Company's beautiful new flagship showroom. It was such a great experience, and we're excited to bring these fresh ideas and design trends back to our studio! ✨

Our team attended the groundbreaking for the new Harford County Emergency Services Special Operations Facility in Hickory on May 19th, celebrating the official start of construction alongside county leadership and first responders.

As the architects behind Special Ops Station 15, we designed this 16,200-square-foot facility to centralize critical response equipment, advanced training bays, decontamination zones, and leadership offices under one roof.

We thank Harford County Executive Bob Cassilly, the Department of Emergency Services, and Emergency Management Director Rick Ayers for the opportunity to work on this project, and we thank everyone involved in making this milestone possible. We look forward to watching it take shape over the next year! 🏗️
