On the Eastern Shore, summer doesn’t start in June.
It starts Memorial Weekend.🌊🌴☀️

So, welcome officially to summer!

If you own a home in Ocean Pines or nearby, now’s the time to get ahead of the heat, humidity, coastal storms, and the wear that comes with Shore living.

We put together a FREE Summer Home Maintenance Checklist to help homeowners stay on top of small issues before they turn into expensive repairs.

Inside the checklist:
- Replace rusted door hardware & hinges
- Deck & patio maintenance
- Gutter cleaning & drainage checks
- Dryer vent inspections
- Pressure washing siding & exterior surfaces
- Screen, shutter, and storm door repairs
- Wood rot inspections
- Weatherproofing & caulking
- Roof & exterior maintenance
- And more

No need to download anything from a website — just save the checklist photo directly to your phone or computer for easy reference all summer long.

And if you’d rather enjoy your weekends this summer instead of sweating over a DIY project, we’d love to take it off your plate. We can help knock out the summer checklist and other projects, too:
- Painting & drywall
- Carpentry & built-ins
- Deck conversions, deck repairs & other outdoor projects
- Home maintenance & repairs
- Renovations & refreshes
- Pre-sale home prep

We’re now focused exclusively on Ocean Pines and nearby communities within about a 15-mile radius so we can stay responsive, reliable, and local during the busy season.

With gratitude, we remember Grandma Mickey and Grandpa Denny for their years of service in the Navy during World War II.

During the war, Grandpa Denny was wounded while serving in the Navy as a Seabee, and Grandma Mickey was one of the nurses who cared for him. In the middle of war and uncertainty, they found each other and began a love story that would go on to shape generations of our family.

Together, they built a beautiful family with 8 children and 13 grandchildren, a legacy rooted in sacrifice, strength, resilience, and love.

They retired to Ocean City in a home built by their sons and nephews. The Eastern Shore became a place filled with memories for the entire Carroll family, memories of family gatherings, laughter, hard work, and love that still live on today.

They are buried at Sunset Memorial Park, forever part of the community and place they loved so much.

This Memorial Day, we remember all those who gave their lives in service to our country, while also honoring the generations of veterans and military families whose sacrifices shaped the freedoms we enjoy today.

RIP Grandma and Grandpa 🇺🇸

With the utmost appreciation,
Brandon & Mike Carroll

Another 5-star review from a recent project in Millville, DE.

This was a multi-scope job for Cliff that included:

Re-caulking and repainting trim, six exterior columns, and a coffered ceiling
Drywall patching and full paint touch-ups
Bathroom repairs, regrouting, and fixture resets
Kitchen caulking and small mechanical fixes

Like most real projects, there were a few hiccups and timeline shifts. That’s part of the job sometimes. What matters is how it gets handled.

We stayed on it, worked through the issues, and made sure everything was completed the right way.

Here’s what Cliff had to say:

“Despite hiccups along the way… everything was completed almost flawlessly. Mike, Joe, Nesto and the rest of the crew hung in there… Mike put in long hours to make sure everything was as close to perfect as could be. We are very pleased… and would highly recommend OPH.”

We appreciate the trust, Cliff.

If you’ve got a list of projects and want one team to handle all of it, that’s exactly what we do.

Spring is here… and so are the problems that winter left behind, especially after the one we just had.

Loose siding. Small leaks. Decks that need attention. Gutters full of debris.

Most homeowners don’t notice these things until they turn into expensive repairs.

That’s exactly why we put this together.

We created a free seasonal maintenance checklist to help you stay ahead of it all and protect your home before issues get worse.

Download it here:

Over the past couple of months, we haven’t been as responsive as we should have been.

We want to apologize for that.

After losing our Dad on 02/23/2026, it’s been hard to find our rhythm. This business started because of him, to help keep him in his home.

But we’ve realized something important.

This business doesn’t end with him.
It carries him forward. In his honor.

This past weekend, we celebrated his life surrounded by family and friends. It meant more to us than we can put into words.
If you’d like to watch the slideshow and better understand the man behind Ocean Pines Handyman, you can view it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1u8B8Ru1l9kPgviJKigZdeXZvfGPPZ1PU/view?usp=drivesdk

Our father lived a life grounded in honesty, hard work, and love for his family. Those are the values we’re committed to every day.

With that, we have a couple updates.

First, our "adopted brother" Nesto is joining Ocean Pines Handyman full time.

When our Dad fell in 2022, Nesto stepped up and became his primary caretaker for over two years. He treated him like his own father and never left his side.

We’ll always see him as a brother.

He brings a lifetime of painting experience, along with strong skills in finish carpentry and general handyman work.

Second, our Mom, Robin Carroll Winstead, is joining to help with calls, emails, and scheduling.

We’ve always been grateful that our parents remained close after the divorce, and we’re grateful to have her support now.

In closing, we’re continuing to grow and build this the right way.

Taking care of people.
Standing behind our work.
Doing what we say we’re going to do.

We appreciate everyone who has supported us.

We’re here. We are going to be much more responsive. And we’re moving forward. In our father's honor.

🕊️ Richard Allan Carroll: 09/21/1950 - 02/23/2026 🕊️

Ocean Pines Handyman is entering a new chapter.

And it starts with the man who built us.

Our dad, Richard Carroll, was blue collar to the core.
40+ years as a mailman. Roofing on the side.
5:00am wake-ups with no alarm clock. 6–7 days a week. No excuses. He lived to provide.

He was always incredibly honest. Always. He found money as a kid when he was a paperboy and he returned it back to the homeowner. The homeowner mailed a letter to the paper because they were so impressed with his honesty. He kept that letter all these years.

He taught us everything that matters:

Be honest.
Work hard.
Be tough.
Be kind.
Take care of your family.
Stand behind your word.

He loved Ocean City and he loved retiring in Ocean Pines. He loved crabs. He loved his big Irish Catholic family. He was a simple man who took pleasure in the simple things in life. A bird on a walk. A garden. A wave that he could body surf in Ocean City. He loved that his boys started a construction business right here in this community. There was pride in that for him - real pride.

Ocean Pines Handyman was built so we could take care of him.
Now we carry it forward to take care of our community.

In his honor.

Here a few pictures of him over the years. Thank you to the Stansell House for taking such good care of him in his last days. And thank you to all of the caretakers - from home health care professionals to the local volunteer paramedics. And so many others in our community.

This next chapter is about doubling down on what he taught us: integrity, craftsmanship, and showing up when we say we will.

We are our father’s sons.

Rest easy, Dad. We love you.

At Ocean Pines Handyman, we’re building something intentional.

We want to be your one-stop shop.

Not just for the big remodels.
Not just for the emergencies.
But for the “small” jobs too.

Because to the homeowner… they’re never small.

Recently we:

✔️ Assembled a 64-piece desk + shelf for Mike Higgins’ mother, Tanya.
“Forever grateful and appreciative.”

✔️ Helped a Realtor close on time with a localized siding repair in Ocean City.
Seller: “Looks great. Thank you.”
Buyer: “That looks incredible!”

✔️ Patched drywall, installed clamshell trim, primed, painted, and detailed finish work for Barbara in the Pines.
“Mike did a great job / passionate about his work"

✔️Repaired bent aluminum sheathing for Deneen — same-day turnaround. What looked simple wasn’t. We had to track down a very specific length of aluminum sheathing — called five different suppliers before 84 Lumber came through in the clutch.
We worked until after the sun went down to get it done right.
“Extremely professional from start to finish.”

No overselling.
No cutting corners.
Just the right repair, done the right way.

And while we’re handling those jobs…

We’re also starting:

🔨 A 3.5-Month Strategic Remodel in the Pines

This isn’t just renovation work — this is smart, value-driven prep for market. We’re working directly with a Realtor to help the homeowners position their property to get top dollar.

Scope includes:
• Full kitchen redesign in partnership with Home Depot
• Multiple bathroom updates
• Extensive drywall repair throughout the home
• Full interior paint
• Flooring upgrades
• Window replacements
• Exterior improvements, including relaying the brick pathway
• Detailed finish work to elevate presentation and value

No shortcuts.
Done the right way so it shows right — and sells right.

🔨 Full Interior + Exterior Transformation in Salisbury

At the same time, we’re beginning a large-scale multi-trade project that includes:

• Master bathroom tub/shower conversion with plumbing repair
• Two bathroom exhaust fan replacements
• Full exterior siding replacement (20 squares)
• New housewrap and flashing
• 250 linear feet of custom-bent aluminum fascia
• Azek porch post wraps and decorative trim
• Window wraps and a full kitchen window replacement
• Door weatherproofing, door rehanging, and shed door replacement
• Exterior lighting, doorbell, and porch fan installs
• Awning installations
• Installation of 12 shutters for full curb appeal upgrade

Interior.
Exterior.
Plumbing.
Electrical.
Siding.
Windows.
Doors.
Finish carpentry.

Small jobs.
Large projects.
Inspection deadlines.

We hire incredibly talented men — some with their own MHIC licenses in addition to ours. They care. They take pride. They stay late when needed. They stand by their work.

And we’re not done until we’ve earned a 5-star review.

If you need one call that can handle it all — we’re ready.

Honest. Hard Working. Responsive. Prompt.

Back in May 2025, we installed custom shelving for Patrice — a clean, simple white shelving setup in her art room and laundry room.

✔️ Art Room: Custom 2’ and 5’ shelves
✔️ Laundry Room: 6’ shelving + a suspended laundry hanger bar
✔️ All white wood with white hardware for a cohesive, polished look

Fast forward about 6 months…

Patrice reached out because she wanted additional reinforcement added to the original shelving. No problem.

We came back out, reinforced the shelves with support brackets, and simply charged her for the materials.

Why?

Because it’s the right thing to do.

We stand by our work. If something can be improved, strengthened, or fine-tuned — we take care of it. That’s part of building long-term trust in this community.

Here’s what Patrice had to say:

“Bill always does an amazing job and the support brackets are great which any time a suggestion is made it will be noted and accommodated earlier in the plan from now on. I appreciate OP Handyman crew standing by their work and ensuring the quality at any time during the process. And most of all a solution was had that did not take away from the aesthetics.”

That last line matters.
We reinforced the shelving without taking away from the clean look of the original design.

That’s how we operate.

If you’re looking for custom built-ins, shelving, or finish carpentry — and you want a team that stands behind the work — we’d love to help.

Retirement done right. 🔥🌊

Rob and his wife moved into their dream waterfront home in Bishopville and wanted to make it a place they could truly enjoy — and a space their kids would love coming back to visit.

They already had a gazebo with a firepit in the center, but it wasn’t quite the functional, comfortable hangout they envisioned. So we helped them turn it into the ultimate outdoor retreat.

We:
▪️ Installed structural posts and framed the enclosure
▪️ Wrapped everything in clean, low-maintenance Azek trim
▪️ Added horizontal slats for privacy (while still keeping the view)
▪️ Built and installed double barn doors
▪️ Painted the doors black to match the home’s metal accents
▪️ Ran underground electrical and added power inside
▪️ Mounted a TV so it’s ready for game days

Originally, the plan was to mostly close it in with just a small opening. After talking it through, we recommended double barn doors with a larger opening so they can slide it wide open, catch the breeze, and really enjoy the warmer months.

Now it’s the perfect spot to relax by the fire, smoke a cigar, watch the game, and take in the water views — just in time for Spring.

Rob said it best:
“OPH did an awesome job enclosing our gazebo. We love the space and privacy. We highly recommend them and will use them again in the future. Brandon and Marty were awesome to work with and very nice and down to earth.”

We’ve included before and after photos so you can see the transformation.

If you’re thinking about upgrading your outdoor space before the Spring season kicks off, let’s talk.

Back on the Market — Buyer Financing Fell Through

This is our dad’s home. Listed at $384,900. Link to listing: https://www.redfin.com/MD/Berlin/696-Ocean-Pkwy-21811/home/15436601

We were fully under contract and had already cleared inspection, appraisal, and HOA requirements. Unfortunately, the buyer’s financing fell through at the last minute.

While it was under contract, we completed every inspection item and additional improvements to ensure it’s fully ready for the next owner:

• Brand new rain gutters
• Replaced a rotted deck post with reinforced pressure-treated lumber
• Repaired shed trim
• Improved driveway drainage
• Plumbing and water heater safety corrections
• Fireplace professionally serviced
• Smoke detector upgrades to current code requirements
• HVAC filter replacements
• ....in addition to the 3+ months of work renovating it in the first place.

The home itself is a 1999 ranch-style property, recently refreshed with new paint and flooring throughout. It offers an open layout, gas fireplace, spacious entry-level bedrooms, and a kitchen that flows into the main living and dining areas.

Outside features include:

• Fenced-in backyard
• Peaceful canal view from the front porch
• Screened side porch

It has already cleared inspection and appraisal — it’s solid, move-in ready, and positioned for a smooth closing.

If you or someone you know is looking for a well-maintained home with water views in Ocean Pines, feel free to reach out.
