RESCHEDULING-
This is something that has been heavy on my mind lately. With a goal to treat everyone's yard as if it were my own, I find myself rescheduling for a multitude of reasons. All of which are factors that would stop me from applying on my own if I was even just recreationally doing it for myself. Oftentimes I have yards scheduled, knowing that I'm likely going to reschedule, but with our temperamental weather I need to have them on the books so that you have an adequate heads up, should the weather allow me to apply. As a solo operator, the work doesn't get done unless I do it. This also means I don't make money when I reschedule, so I promise you that it's not ideal for me to reschedule yards. If you get a reschedule notice, just know that it's almost always for the best interest in the success of the application, and your yard's health. There's only so much that I can control, and one of those is my effort to give you the best chance at having the yard you (we) want!

Yesterday morning we wrapped up the last few of our pre-existing customers yards for fall applications! We were blessed with a smooth round with very little setback and cooperating weather, followed with some much needed rain!

If your yard hasn't been sprayed yet, and you'd like us to do it, there's still time! You either need to call for a quote, or pay your balance on your account 🤷‍♂️ (I'm a very understanding person, but if need be, I can't make arrangements if you don't reach out to me)

In honor of Labor day, here are some results of the labor that has gone into my personal yard from myself and the pros at Tier 1 Landscape this year!

My yard is always late to green up, from excessive thatch from my own yard and runoff from neighboring yards. I came in and did a late verticut and aeration to try and get heat, air and moisture to the roots and soil. I then began pouring the fertilizer to it to try and get it to take off faster, and it did. However, the verticutting exposed the thin patches. That's when I reached out to the #1 lawn spreading and leveling company in the OKC metro to work on the next step. They brought in their deep punching core aerator, and a pile of "rich mix" to amend my depleted soil to spread across my whole yard. I swear, the next day my yard was noticeably greener! Since then I've been routine mowing and maintaining a healthy, weather permitting height, watering when necessary, and monthly feeding my yard with micronutrients (Carbon Pro G) to finish out this growing season. It sure has been a long process, but great yards don't happen overnight!

I say all that to say this, If you're looking to level your yard, amend your soil health, aerate, etc. there's nobody that I can recommend more than Dustin Cowans with Tier 1. If I make a recommendation to your yard for their services, know that it's coming from a place of personal experience!

As it finally begins to actually get hot out, and I "fear" we may start getting dry, here's a reminder to not cut through the green of your grass!

Sure, short and tight Bermuda is great, but if you're not maintaining your yard for that (micro nutrients, extra fertilizer, extensive watering, pgr, reel mowing, etc.), don't try it. You're only going to stress and discolor your yard.

The general rule of thumb is to never cut more that 1/3 the height of your grass at a time. However, that doesn't mean you HAVE to cut 1/3 of it each time.

Also, as the heat progresses I typically raise my deck height as needed through the summer. Typically, I maintain my yard at about 2", but I'm currently at 2.5" and will even bump up to 3" by the end of summer if needed. This allows me to keep a fuller and green look to my grass during the dog days of summer!

I'll be there...eventually!

At this point, all the rain just seems to be a joke anymore! It's crazy to think that just a few years ago I was not spraying some yards during this round because of the drought, and the negative effects outweighed the positive for many of my non-irrigated customers. Now, I'm constantly dancing around active rain, standing water, over-saturated yards, etc. multiple times a week!

I say all this to really say two things:
1- We've still got plenty of time to lay down an effective "summer treatment" round.
2- If it's time for a spray round and I'm not spraying, it's most definitely not because I don't want to, it's because I've always swore to not be an application company that sprays just to get the job of the list at any cost. I choose to treat everyone's yard as my own, and if that means the conditions wouldn't warrant me to spray at my own house, I'm not spraying at yours!
