Recently a customer was having an issue running one of their products through the Scanner Lead-In Roll, through the Scanner and to the Lead-Out Roll. The web would brake once tension was applied at the Winder. This issue kept them from running this product for over a year on this line. This meant that they could only run this product on one of their two Treater Lines and not on this second line.
Total Alignment and Precision Services, Inc. inspected the complete dry end of the line and found some rolls out of alignment, the worst were the Lead-In and Lead-Out Rolls at the Scanner which were found to toe in almost 3/8” for their horizontal alignment. The next roll after the Lead-Out Roll was found to be skewed almost a ¼” for its horizontal alignment. After slotting holes for the mounting of these three rolls and correcting the alignment, the customer is now able to run their problematic product on this line.
