When the Spotlight Finds You: Gratitude and a Quick Clarification

I was recently featured in a YouTube piece by Black Status highlighting my journey as a government contractor and business owner, alongside nine other accomplished women. I had no prior knowledge of the feature, but I’m genuinely honored to be included in such company and appreciate the recognition.

If you’ve already seen the piece, I do want to clarify one point for accuracy. While it referenced 8(a) certification, BES Solutions, Inc. is a proud SDVOSB-certified firm, and our federal portfolio has been built through SDVOSB set-aside contracts and disciplined ex*****on in the federal marketplace. Precision matters in our industry, and I take that seriously.

As we approach six years in business this September, I remain focused on sustainable growth, operational excellence, and delivering measurable value to our government clients. Entrepreneurship in the federal space isn’t about perception — it’s about capability, compliance, relationships, and consistent performance. The vision is big. The work is real. ✨ Leadership in Action. Change in Motion.

Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending the Prince George's Chamber of Commerce Annual Members Dinner at Martin’s Crosswinds. This event marked more than a gathering—it was a ceremonial passing of the gavel, a celebration of progress, and a promise of greater things to come.

Congratulations to Courtney Edmonds, CPSD , the newly installed Board Chair, and to the entire incoming and returning board, including Vennard Wright, CEO of PerVista AI. Special thanks to Prince George's County, Maryland County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy, Esq. and Lt. Governor Aruna Miller for swearing in this powerful leadership slate and committing to walk in lockstep with the Chamber to uplift county-based businesses.

As a proud PGCOC member, I’m especially grateful to Chamber President Alexander Austin for creating a culture of belonging and inclusivity. It’s not easy to make everyone feel welcome in spaces like these, but Alex does—with grace, vision, and authenticity. Because of that leadership, I never feel like an outsider in this county.

Change is here—and change is good. Let's keep hope alive and build a stronger business community together.

Last week, two of our nation’s finest—SSgt Devin Dew and SSgt Jalin Dew—completed intense wartime readiness training at Camp Bullis, TX, preparing for future deployment in support of the United States Air Force Medical Command.

During this week-long simulation:
-They operated in live-patient field conditions 🩺
-Lived and trained in the field with MREs and tactical drills 🪖
-Delivered life-saving medical interventions in combat scenarios 💉

📜 SSgt Devin Dew officially graduated Ground Surgical Team (GST) Phase 2/Expeditionary Medical Support (EMEDS), solidifying deployment readiness.
🔥 SSgt Jalin Dew was recognized with the “Above and Beyond” award for his extraordinary performance as an Aeromedical Evacuation Patient Staging Course
(AEPSC) Team Member.

Today, we pause not just for reflection—but for reverence.

At BES Solutions, Inc., Memorial Day is deeply personal.

I come from a long line of service:
— My grandfather (Pops), a proud veteran
— My uncle (Uncle Donald), a Purple Heart recipient who gave more than most
— Myself and my husband, both U.S. Air Force veterans
— Our sons, who continue the mission through their own military service

**This day isn’t about us. It’s about those who never made it home.
It’s about honoring the fallen by how we live, how we lead, and how we carry forward the values they fought for.

May we continue to serve with purpose, lead with humility, and remember with pride.

As we celebrate Military Appreciation Month, I want to honor my son, SSgt Devin Dew, a proud United States Air Force Surgical Technician & Orthopedic Specialist who will soon celebrate 8 years of Active Duty service.

From Fort Sam Houston to Lackland AFB, and now stationed at Langley AFB, Devin has served with precision, purpose, and professionalism—helping service members heal and return to the mission stronger than ever.

Devin is more than an Airman—he’s a husband to a fellow veteran (a former US Army soldier), and a father of three amazing children, continuing our family’s legacy of service and sacrifice. He’s also a dedicated golfer—on a mission to outplay his dad one swing at a time. ⛳️
