The proposed Shady Lakes Boulevard will be a four(4) lane divided thoroughfare utilizing all of the 110 ft. right-of-way from property line to property line centered on the FPL transmission lines and extend to the new intersection at 117th Court. Yes, it will increase traffic not only from PGA Boulevard past the entrance to the Shady Lakes community, but it will increase traffic in front of the mi
ddle and elementary school on the way to the intersection at 117th Court and Central Boulevard. As proposed, Shady Lakes Boulevard will act as connector for Central Blvd./ PGA Blvd., the schools, City Park, and the future Palm Beach County Regional Parkoposed, but also allow cut through traffic to and from both overcrowded PGA and Central Boulevards. The proposed Shady Lakes Boulevard will promote increased traffic flow in front of the schools and increase both the volume and wait times at the intersections of PGA Blvd. and Central Blvd. There is no room in the Shady Lakes right-of-way for the installation of proper and effective traffic calming solutions, safe bike paths and sidewalks, fences, walls, canopy trees and landscape buffers. Shady Lakes Boulevard will not allow traffic to flow more smoothly. A new road will not benefit the local neighborhoods or any other surrounding neighborhoods. All of these measures will add more traffic and wait times on both PGA Blvd and Central Blvd. which cannot be the City and School District’s plan. With the addition of Shady Lakes Boulevard there will be a need for additional traffic signals at the entry to Shady Lakes, at the intersection of Shady Lakes Boulevard and 117th Court, as well as stacking lanes and turn lanes at both. Every day police officers from the City and School Board will be required to manually direct traffic, in order for pedestrians to be able to move freely, including visitors, residents, children, bicyclists, and joggers. School crossing guards will not be just volunteers, as there will be numerous locations where school children will be at risk. As they are now at PGA Blvd.
