A fun feature! An amazing Tulikivi soapstone masonry wood stove with a built-in bake oven!
This unit is quite impressive, and no small feat to install. To begin with, a heavy concrete footing needed retrofitted into the existing crawl space to support over 10,000 lb. of weight.
The hot flu gases on these fireplaces are intentionally routed through a long maze of soapstone chases before exiting the home: From the firebox, the flu gases first travel up to the top of the stove, then down again to the bottom where it then splits, traveling down and back inside each soapstone bench, coming together again under the stove before finally exiting in a traditional stove pipe.
With the amazing properties of soapstone, a fire can be lit once a day and heat is stored in the mass of soapstone where it then dissipates over an extended period of time.
The bake oven feature above the firebox allows for high temp roasting immediately after firing, or slow overnight cooking as the oven gradually cools.
This is sure to make for some cozy winter evenings!
