Without fail, one of the first questions homeowners ask is: What does prep work actually mean?

Before we pick up any paint, we focus on getting the surface ready. That can include cleaning, sanding, patching, sealing, priming, and dulling the surface so the new coating has the right foundation to adhere properly. Prep work is not the part most people notice first, but it is the part that helps determine how long the paint job will last.

By taking the time to properly prepare each surface, we’re not only focused on creating a smoother finish. We’re also helping protect the structure underneath from premature wear, moisture damage, and decay.

A refreshed bedroom can completely change the way your home feels.

Touching up the ceilings, walls, and trim helps bring the space back to a cleaner, more polished finish, especially in rooms that are used every day.

Whether your bedroom needs a simple refresh or a full repaint, our team can help make the process feel clear from the start.

Blue Heather by Benjamin Moore is the perfect slate blue that shows soft glints of pearl grey. Subtle, airy, and calming. Applied Benjamin Moore’s Regal Select in an eggshell finish, pairing beautifully with wooden floors, bringing warmth and balance to the cool blue tones.

Some might be surprised to hear we don’t pressure wash your house before painting the exterior.

Instead of relying on a pressure washer, we use a garden hose and a medium bristle brush to physically scrub the surface. This helps remove dirt more effectively while being gentler on wood siding, fascia boards, and other softer exterior materials. A pressure washer can be useful on harder surfaces, but on wood, too much force can damage the surface rather than prepare it properly.

A clean surface gives the new coating a better foundation and helps the exterior finish hold up the way it should.

Exterior touch ups are a simple way to keep a home looking cared for while helping protect it from further wear.

By staying on top of exterior maintenance, homeowners can often address small areas before they turn into a full exterior repaint. For this home, we also repainted the metal shutter doors, treating the existing rust and helping protect the surface moving forward. Details like this help maintain curb appeal and keep the home looking its best over time.

A cohesive touch most might overlook.

These window screen frames were stained to match the 8-foot alder doors, creating a more consistent finish throughout the home. While details like this may seem small, they help the overall project feel intentional and complete. The kind of detail that quietly ties everything together.

A fresh new feel for this Stanford residence.

This home received a full interior repaint as part of renovations throughout the space, giving each room a cleaner and more updated look. With natural sunlight shining in, Stonington Gray HC-170 by Benjamin Moore on the walls helps the great room feel refined and bright. This light silvery gray makes a subtle change that helps the entire home feel more complete.

After 23 years of painting homes, one thing has become clear: The best results come from listening.

The question I get asked the most is what makes a perfect paint job, and it’s simply understanding your client. Whether it’s repainting a home or maintaining a finish that’s already in place, the most important part is asking the right questions to get to an understanding of what the homeowner actually needs. From there, delivering it with care, consistency, and reliability.

When you understand your clients vision, everything else comes smoothly because you’re planning the project from their perspective and what they want for their home.
