All about native plants.
Just 45 minutes south of us, the City of Cedar Park is offering rebates for residents who replace turf grass with native or drought-tolerant landscapes. In some cases, homeowners can receive up to $2,000 for converting healthy turf into native planting beds.
Programs like this do more than save water. They help shift our landscapes toward plants that actually belong here. Native plant beds support pollinators, reduce irrigation demand during our brutal summers, and often require far less maintenance than traditional lawns.
For those of us who already love Texas native plants, it’s exciting to see cities start to financially support the transition away from thirsty turf.
Imagine if programs like this expanded across Central Texas.
Less lawn. More habitat. More resilient landscapes.
