The night was bitter cold.
The wind was howling with snow
I breathed in the gathering gloom
Knowing it was up to me to plow it!

I gathered my energy
Igniting the fuel in my vehicle
My chest heaved, rippling muscle
At 53, a human removing machine

The elements are no match for my mind
I and the Creator are One
And yet, I do not own the wind
And this body of flesh shall be no more.

Who am I to oppose the wind
Or those who share its breath?
I only stand against their pride of life
Knowing we shall meet again in death.

When the sun shall rise.
And the Night is over.
And the storm is passed,
And I shall be compensated, or not.
