We just wrapped up a big pasture-recovery job for a landowner in LeCompton, KS; the before/after photos tell the whole story. This ground had slowly filled in with hedge, cedar, and locust over the years, the kind of slow creep that doesn’t seem urgent until one day the pasture’s gone.
Most farmers don’t let their land get away from them on purpose , they just get busy. A couple seasons go by, then a few more, and the small sprouts you meant to deal with turn into full-blown trees. It happens to all of us in one way or another.
When we first walked the property, he was embarrassed to show us how far it had gotten, but this is what we do, we get it, life and work take priority. Once we got started, you could see the relief. He was just glad to have help getting his land back under control.
