Hello, hi, BONJOUR 😉

I’ve been pretty quiet online over the past year, but I am back with some big announcements. Our little family is moving back to France this November! We will be settling in the ancestral village of Fabien’s maternal family, Plougastel Daoulas, in Brittany. With great excitement and not a little trepidation, we are taking on the renovation of his great-grandfather’s house, where his grandmother and mother were born. It should be an entertaining, exhausting, and (hopefully) rewarding endeavor.

Fabien and I met when I studied in Paris, way back in 2010, and lived there together after I graduated. We’ve been in the Bay Area since early 2014. Life looks very different on this side of a decade of California dreaming. Our family now includes 14 month old Petra Margot and her reluctant feline bestie, Cleo. I’ve had my business baby, Hannah Emile, since 2017. Fabien got his American citizenship in 2021. We’ve experienced great loss and incredible joy in this time. I am very much not the same person I was the last time I lived in France.

We decided several years ago that if we were lucky to have children, we wanted to raise them in France. There are many factors that informed this decision, and I look forward to unpacking them in a forthcoming newsletter (stay tuned). And now that time has come, with all the bittersweet trappings of enormous change.

I’m back, (with) BABY ✨ Petra is eight months old and the best thing I’ve ever made, but I miss my studio nonetheless. We don’t have childcare or family nearby, Petra naps erratically, nurses regularly, and puts absolutely everything in her mouth. To be completely honest, I don’t have a clear sense of how I will fit my work into our days, but I want to try. So the shop is open for business and we’ll see how it goes!
