Richter Renovations was founded in 2019 as a collaboration between Mary Richter and Chuck Thompson. Together we bring over 40 years experience in design, carpentry, repairs, and remodeling to the Philadelphia and South Jersey area. We strive to make your renovation experience as smooth and stress-free as possible by providing thorough plans, clear communication, and fair pricing. We treat you and
your home with respect, because we want you to love where you live. Owner Mary Richter is a Pennsylvania native and lifelong builder and craftswoman. After qualifying for the Carpenters Union but struggling to get a foot in the door with a union crew, she secured a non-union apprenticeship instead with a small general contractor in West Philadelphia. Following 3 years of training, she began running job sites and planning projects on her own. She found that many women homeowners were more comfortable working with her than with male contractors, so the idea for Richter Renovations was born. Chuck Thompson is from South Jersey and currently lives in Philadelphia. As the son of a builder, his experience began in high school designing and selling furniture, then cabinet making, carpentry, and general building. Achieving a Certified Remodeler designation by age 30, he went on to oversee construction of new homes, serve as general manager at a Top 100 remodeling company, and provide independent design-build projects in South Jersey. His focus is on sensible solutions for any size project and budget. The combined talent of our team at Richter Renovations provides clients with quality work and peace of mind.
