This is a prime example of why you should have your gas furnace checked once a yr. It is very common for a salesman to up sell a high efficiency unit to a customer who's house isn't rated for a 90+ unit. It's very common they over or under size the equipment and use the wrong sized duct. It's very common to have the wrong tonnage unit installed when it checks out math wise, but didnt take into consideration old windows or lack of installation. What im getting at, is most units are not junk. It comes down to the installer and the maintenance the customers care to put into the equipment.

In this video, the flame rollout sensors did not shut this down like they should have. The heat exchanger tube's ( where you see the flames ) rotted out. Either excess humidity/condensate leak from ac, but most likely an undersized return. These people were living like this for God knows how long. They were living with constant headaches and sick all the time from the carbon monoxide mixing with their breathing air.

Anytime you have a gas/propane/oil - forced hot air ( hvac ) it is absolutely imperative to have up to date carbon monoxide detectors in each bed room. Most people think where the unit is would be the most important place. The most important place is your bedroom. If you're a tenant, have your landlord pick you up a new one and leave it next to your bed. It could save your life. Having the unit checked and cleaned once a year will also keep the chances of anything like this happening much lower!

Sorry for our lack of posts. We have been extremely busy. To anyone we missed, we sincerely apologize. We're doing the best we can in this cold snap. 🥶

All of these drains have something in common. The reason this is happening is due to high efficiency heaters/furnaces ( 90+ ) that condense during the winter. The difference between the condensation from your ac vs condensing furnace, is the furnace is highly acidic. It eats right through cast iron and galvanized pipes like no other. The fix to this, is adding a neutralizer/ inhibitor that will neutralize the condensate, removing the acid. They sell them in tablets, and they also make special condensate pumps with the filter / neutralizer built in. If you have a high efficiency unit without a neutralizer/ same with a condensing boiler / tankless unit, it would be in your best interest to add one to your system to keep your old pipes underground as healthy as possible. You can avoid major dig ups and expensive drain line repairs, as this has been the most common thing we've been running into lately. Just a friendly tip that is easily avoidable!! Also, turn the hose faucets outside off, drain down and disconnect yoir garden hoses!! It's that time 🥶 🧊 ☃️

Everyone stay safe and warm!! ❤️

Edit** I received a few msgs about how to tell if your unit is high efficiency. It would have white or plastic pipe(s) coming off the top instead of a metal chimney and you would have a drain coming out of the side.

This is why you only use brass or copper supports on copper lines. All they do is eat at the copper. Plastic strap is ok for water lines, not heating lines.
