PA Representative Thomas P. Murt (R) is sponsoring HB-705, which will set new Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL) for Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) & Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). PFOS & PFOA are harmful contaminants, with a half-life of 4 years (for the more information on PFOS & PFOA view: (http://certifiedwaterservices.com/specials.html). Certified Water Services recognizes the importance of this bill and supports it because it will protect PA’s drinking water.
The bill is presently referred to Reps John Maher (R) & Mike Carroll (D) of the Environmental Resources and Energy committee (http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/billinfo/billinfo.cfm?syear=2017&sind=0&body=H&type=B&bn=0705).
TAKE ACTION and contact Reps Maher and Carroll to let them know how you feel and to encourage them to act on the passage of this bill.
Phone John Maher at (717) 783-1522. I left him a voicemail on 04/28/17 at 2:27 pm letting him know I feel he should pass HB-705 and briefly cited some information regarding PFOS & PFOA.
Phone Mike Carroll at (717) 787-3589. On 04/28/17 at 2:20 pm I spoke with a representative of his office and let him know I support the HB-705. He replied that Carroll supports the bill; “[Democrats] were the minority, but he’d pass on my message of support.”
Feel free to post the outcome.
