Finally, The local paper has an article about geothermal heating and cooling included in the piece about green energy schools. A quote from the October 17 front page article from The Intelligencer, serving Bucks and Montgomery County reads, "The trend (going green in local schools) saves money, helps preserve the earth's finite resources and sets a good example for students and staff.) The person being quoted was Heidi Kunka, Central PA Director for the U.S. Green Building Council. Quakertown High School's renovation included a geothermal heating--cooling system, some solar energy components and installation of light emitting diode light bulbs. "That's an enormous source of energy savings," said Quakertown School Board president, Paul Stepanoff.

As part of the Green Building Conference, there are several tours coming up in Philadelphia. The tour on Saturday, November 23, 2013, is at the Philadelphia Zoo and it will highlight the Hamilton Family Children's Zoo and Education Center. CW Cook Geothermal put in the Geothermal wells and wellfield for this project and we are delighted that the geothermal is cooling and heating the newly repurposed building and is part of the tour. One of the tour captains is David Ade of SMP, the architectural firm for the project that converted the old pachyderm building into this new use that maintains the historical beauty of the history laden building while reducing its carbon footprint.
Please consider attending the tour for an enlightening day in a wonderful environment. I registered today. The registration is $100.00 per person.
