Now that the arctic has decided to move in it is of most importance that you shut off the valves (on the inside of your house) to the hose bibs outside. after doing that open the outside hose faucet, this should help prevent burst pipes and flooded houses. if you need me, dont know where, cant get too the valves give me a call or text (267-252-6782)

Winter home inspection time... Just to give all the homeowners a heads up. Its a good time to check to make sure your not missing any shingles, that your pipe collars (the rubber piece that encases your vent stacks), your siding is not cracked (mice) from the landscapers. Also time to shut off the supply line to your exterior hose valves and leave the hose valves open (this prevents freezing and cracking pipes). Make sure shutters are attached, and if you need any assistance you know where to reach me. Thanks, Scott Ritter

When buying a home, a home inspection is very important to protect yourself from potential disaster. However, many home inspectors do not have on the job experience as a contractor and therefore miss common but potentially costly repairs. It is advantageous to have a contractor like myself or somebody else you feel comfortable with to take a quick peek. The last contractor inspection I preformed costs $75 and I found significant water damage from improper flashing around windows that could have cost the investor upwards of $25,00 in repairs. The home inspector (who inspected the property before me did not catch the problem. Just food for thought for those thinking about purchasing a home

As far as purchasing paint, I will offer you all my discount at Sherwin Williams. This discount will keep the price of a much superior paint competitive with paints offered by Lowes and Home Depot. Pick out your colors and when you go to order your paint tell them you are picking up the paint for your contractor (me) under the name of Ritters Renovations (267-252-6782) this will give you a discount. In addition, it allows you to buy contractor series paint not available to the public. the name of the paint is Promar 200. That is the most cost effective wall and trim paint. The discount works with all of their paints. If you have questions about what you think you should buy just ask I'll be more than willing to help. Also, get on Sherwin Williams e-mailing list to recieve their larger discounts between 30% and 40% (which is hight than my discount rate).

I'm going to try and be more active on my page, meaning that I'll be giving pointers, tips, and secrets of the trade. I do a lot of painting, and therefore get to see and use many different tools and products. You get what you pay for! If you buy a cheap $10 9 inch roller frame with pan and cover you are going to have noticeable fibers left on the wall from the cheap roller cover. Don's buy a $5 paint brush and expect to get good results. buy a 2.5 inch angled sash brush that will make cutting in easier. Finally, you get what you pay for with paint. I've used Home depot and Lowes paint before and can tell you that the cost benefit analysis does not save you any money. I'll cover technique in a different segment. Any questions feel free to ask. Thanks, Scott Ritter
