Here’s why I bury eggs under my tomato plants👇

I know, I know. This is weird. I read about this little hack about 5 years ago, probably in or something similar.

The idea behind this is that the egg breaks down slowly for a steady drip of calcium, preventing blossom end rot on your tomato plants.

I also add bone meal and worm castings when I plant tomatoes so I wasn’t sure if the egg was actually necessary? But I decided to try it. So I divided my tomato rows in half. One half of the tomato plants got an egg and the other did not.

Guess what… the egg side was a foot taller, had less blight, and more fruit.

I was still skeptical so I repeated my experiment again the next year but I did 2/3 with eggs this time. Once again, the plants with eggs beneath them grew stronger and healthier.

So that’s the story of how I started saving up eggs every April to plant in my garden with the tomato seedlings. 🌱🍅

What’s the weirdest garden hack you’ve tried that actually worked?
