Lawn Care โ The Phoenix summer lawn care checklist (save this one)
August is when Phoenix lawns split into two categories: the ones that got the basics right, and the ones hoping fall will bail them out.
If you're managing your own Biltmore, Arcadia, or Sunnyslope lawn this summer โ here's the full checklist worth running:
๐ง Watering
โ Timer running between 4โ6 AM
โ Deep-soak cycles (20โ30 min per zone), not daily shallow sprinkles
โ System adjusted after significant monsoon rain events
โ๏ธ Mowing
โ Blade height at 1.5โ2.5" for Bermuda (3โ4" for taller varieties)
โ Never removing more than โ
of blade per cut
โ Mower blade sharpened โ dull blades cause disease and browning
๐ฑ Soil & Feeding
โ Slow-release nitrogen applied in JuneโJuly
โ Thatch layer under ยฝ" (over that: time to dethatch)
โ Compacted desert soil loosened for proper water pe*******on
๐ง Drainage & Infrastructure
โ Low spots and runoff zones checked before monsoon season
โ Edging maintained to prevent bed encroachment
๐ Monitoring
โ Stress patches identified and treated before they spread
โ Pest or disease signs checked bi-weekly
Missing three or more of these โ especially in Moon Valley, North Mountain Village, or Paradise Valley Village โ means your lawn is working against itself this summer.
Divine Design Landscaping can take the entire checklist off your plate.
