6️⃣ Years In Business!

Six years in business is worth celebrating, and we’re glad to mark it with the people who have trusted MDI with their homes, businesses, and properties over the years. What started with one project became another, then another, through repeat clients, referrals, our trusted partners, and the projects that have allowed this company to keep growing.

MDI General Contracting is a family-owned building company serving Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania with residential remodeling and renovations, custom fabrication and carpentry, commercial build-outs, and new builds.

We love what we do because real people enjoy, create, and spend their lives in the spaces we build.

As MDI continues to grow, we want the work to be easier to see and the process of reaching us to be clearer. Our website gives a clearer look at who we are, what we do, the projects we take on, and how to start the right conversation with our team.

**Partial Bathroom Remodel Series**

This partial bathroom remodel highlights the transformation of a previously deteriorated space. The homeowner started the project on their own and once they discovered some difficult areas that were affected, they gave us a call. The project began with the removal of a rotten floor and damaged wall, which were carefully replaced and repaired. After addressing the underlying issues, a new subfloor was installed to ensure a solid base. Additionally, the bulkhead above was removed to open up the ceiling, creating a more spacious and modern feel. Finally, fresh drywall was added, and elegant crown molding was installed to give the room a polished, finished look, enhancing both the functionality and aesthetic of the bathroom.

This was also a job in which the homeowner wanted to add their touch and paint the space. (We do prime and seal the new drywall.)

Partial Bathroom Remodel Series..

Creating a safer, more accessible space—this shower remodel is designed with comfort and independence in mind.

The transformation began with a traditional bathtub and bulkhead, limiting both space and accessibility. The first step was removing the bulkhead, opening up the area to create a more expansive and functional layout. A walk-in shower with a unique fiberglass surround was then installed, featuring strategically placed grab bars for added support and security. To enhance comfort, a detachable showerhead was added, allowing the user to sit and enjoy a more flexible and comfortable shower experience. The result is a space designed for ease of use, safety, and independence.

This homeowner requested to be involved by painting the space. We fully respect anyone’s desire to have a hand in their own project to allow as much satisfaction for the end result that they will enjoy! (We do ask that we seal the new drywall with a primer/sealer.)

The season of small business support is always a great time for us to reflect—on the business, our clients, how we’ve grown, and where we are headed.

We deeply appreciate all of our clients we’ve built relationships with throughout the year and our team of partners, contractors, and suppliers. Sustaining a small business takes a great deal of work and support. This month, we brought on our first full-time employee. That’s big for us. We’re looking forward to what’s ahead.
