S&B USA Construction has been recognized again on News-Record 's (ENR) Top 100 Design-Build Firms list, moving up to #63 this year.

Rankings reflect a lot of work behind the scenes, and for us, that work is rooted in alternative delivery. Our teams have built deep experience in Design-Build, P3s and other delivery methods, where early collaboration with owners and designers shapes better outcomes long before construction starts.

One recent example: the award-winning CSX Howard Street Tunnel Clearance Project, delivered in a progressive design-build by the Skanska Fay Joint Venture. Working with CSXT, Hatch, and WRA, the team increased the 130-year-old tunnel’s vertical clearance and improved its long-term resiliency:
✅ under budget
✅ ahead of schedule
✅ zero recordable injuries over 233 consecutive days of 24/7 construction operations

We're looking for an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team in Chesapeake, VA. This role is responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment on construction jobsites, with a primary focus on excavators.

Responsibilities include performing work safely and efficiently, maintaining equipment through basic preventative maintenance and minor repairs, and supporting daily construction operations in a team-oriented environment.

Candidates should have experience with excavation, trenching, pipe setting, and loading trucks, as well as operating backhoes, loaders, and skid steers.

Qualified candidates must have:
✅ Three years of construction experience (required)
✅ Valid Driver’s License with clean driving history
✅ CDL Class A driver’s license preferred
✅ Experience operating various equipment including backhoes, excavators, loaders and skid steer.
✅ MUST successfully pass a drug test and background check

Our 2026 Intern Class kicked off the summer with boots on the ground at the Greater Pittsburgh Area PennDOT I-376 Commercial Street Bridge Replacement and Beaver River Bridge Replacement projects. The visits offer a broader understanding of how different teams and areas of expertise come together to deliver major infrastructure work.

Getting out on active jobsites connects their individual roles to the bigger picture, giving them an early look at the people, processes, and purpose behind the work they’ll support during their internships. We are excited to see the ideas, energy, and perspective they bring to our teams this summer.

National Safety Month is an opportunity to recognize the importance of creating safe environments for our employees, partners, and communities.

At S&B USA, safety is more than a policy or procedure. A safety mindset leads our culture and is instilled in everything we do. Our employees understand that working safely protects not only themselves, but also the people working alongside them every day.

The NAWIC Pittsburgh - Chapter #161 and (MBA) of Western PA Women’s Clay Shoot at Pine Run Country Club in Jones Mills, PA, was well worth the wait. This highly anticipated event brought together women and allies from across the construction industry for a day filled with connection, friendly competition, and fun.

Our team members had a fantastic time participating, building relationships, and enjoying such a vibrant and supportive atmosphere. We’re proud to be part of an industry that champions opportunities like this and even prouder to belong to a community that lifts one another up.
