One of the biggest problems persons with accessibility issues is cost of equipment. Vertical platform lifts (VPL) cost between $12,000 and $18,000 on average installed.

Affordable Lifts located in Virginia maybe the godsend. I did this for my 90 year old father-in-law in approximately a day and a half. Although not aesthetically pleasing, the lift is solid, 750 # rated, weather proof and 100% made in the USA.

Lumber, materials, and fasteners: $600.00
Labor: (family) Free
Lift, delivered. $2,900.00

Recently MRBDC - Mark R. Berton Design & Consulting, LLC achieved certification as a Building Information Modeling - Residential Manager, or BIM-R. Which brings a whole new level of service to the clients. From schematic development through 2-D, 3-D, and Modeling of the project with integration of scheduling, take-offs, and building systems information.

After waiting for construction costs to level out over the past few years, this massive, accessible addition designed by MRBDC, LLC to this home has begun. Stay tuned for future updates as work progresses.

Nearing completion & Occupancy. This Springdale, PA fully accessible, custom modular home is nearly ready for its occupants. A few items to complete and some landscaping.

In collaboration this proto-type home was developed for InVision Human Services through Accessible Homes 4U (Lucy Serio), custom designed by MRBDC, LLC and built by McCaffery Development Corporation.

The Home features 36" wide zero barrier threshold exterior doors, all paving and flooring surfaces are flush with each other. All interior doors are 36" wide, flooring is flush engineered wood. The hallways are min. 4 feet wide. The Master Bedroom is adjacent to a "wet area" bathroom. The Kitchen has ADA compliant appliances, such as a swing open oven door, raise rack dishwasher, roll-under sink and counter top. the Toe Kicks are 8" High and 6" Deep to accommodate wheelchair foot rests. Wheelchair height cabinet mount microwave, just to list a few.

The garage is designed to accommodate a wheelchair van with side lift access out of the weather.

The rear of the home has a deck and ADA compliant ramp system to allow egress to the rear yard area.

Other features upon completion will include video security and monitoring.
