What happens before the foundation is poured? š”
Before concrete ever gets poured, thereās important work happening underneath the home.
The building pad is built up with AB (aggregate base) and compacted in 1-foot lifts. Each lift is compaction tested to make sure it meets the required standards.
Once the pad is prepared, a geotechnical engineer comes out to test it and verify that the soil and pad are stable and ready for construction.
This step is important because the foundation needs a properly prepared, stable surface underneath it to help prevent settling or movement down the road.
